Situated at 1300–1600 MASL, this coffee is a testament to the dedication of farmers working to preserve Flores’ rich coffee heritage.

Nola Wonga Farmers Group

Founded in 2014 by Felix Soba, the Nola Wonga Farmers Group was created to safeguard Bajawa’s renowned Arabica coffee. As short-term vegetable crops like cabbage and mustard greens became more popular, coffee farms began to disappear. Felix, acting as a patron to the region’s farmers, stepped in to offer financial support, distributing free seedlings, and training farmers to cultivate coffee alongside other crops rather than replacing it. His efforts have not only revived coffee farming in the region but have also boosted local livelihoods and strengthened biodiversity.

Thanks to this dedication, the Nola Wonga coffee project has flourished, with increasing demand leading to higher farmer incomes and improved processing techniques. This lot reflects those advancements, offering elegant floral and citrus notes, with a smooth caramel sweetness and a clean, bright finish. We love it as a delicate yet complex filter brew, but it also makes for a beautifully balanced espresso.

Processing

Ripe cherries are handpicked and pulped within 24 hours, then fermented in concrete tanks before being gently washed. The beans are patio-dried for 7–10 days, carefully milled, and sorted to ensure only the highest quality beans make it through. This meticulous process brings out the coffee’s vibrant acidity and layered sweetness, making it a standout offering from Flores.
