This stunning lot from the community of farmers in the Halo Beriti kebele in Yirgacheffe is the dictionary definition of a naturally processed Ethiopian coffee.

Grown at the seemingly impossibly high altitudes of 2150-2250 metres above sea level, producers from the area surrounding the village sell their cherries locally before being processed by Ephtah Coffee at their 3.5Ha site in Lasela. The cherries are sorted and floated before being allowed to dry for 12-15 days on raised African beds.

As well as purchasing coffees, Ephtah provide a range of additional support to producers, including training in agronomy and risk mangement.

They also dedicate resources to empowering female producers through their Ama Commitment, providing pre-financing and tailored training schemes with a view to fostering leadership and economic independence for women in the area.

This lot strikes the perfect balance between fruity and floral, reminding us of blueberry jam and sweet peach tea.
