    We're always delighted to have a new coffee from Colombia and this new arrival is, as always, quite simply stunning.

    El Quebradon is the culmination of 130 small-scale growers' labour in the Palestina municipality (Huila department) of Colombia. Exotic fruit such as avocado and dragon fruit is grown among the coffee plants, providing a rich complexity to the soils.

    The small-scale growers who contribute to El Quebradon own no more than 2 hectares of land each, ensuring the only the ripest cherries are picked by hand.

    This coffee is fully washed before being sun and air-dried on parabolic patios and raised African beds. This processing allows for a clean cup profile to compliment the floral sweetness. We taste dark chocolate, honey and red grape notes in this great all-rounder. Perfect for all brewing methods.

    In the south of the department of Huila, nearby Pitalito, is the municipality of Palestina, a place surrounded by mountains on the skirt of the eastern mountain range of Colombia. In this agricultural paradise, there are 130 coffee growing families who contribute to El Quebradón, with coffee from their farms, 2 hectares in size roughly. Although this area has several economic activities such as avocado and cattle rearing, coffee is the main activity. Most of these coffee producers come from families of coffee tradition and heritage. They have been learning from generation through generation about coffee, running through the coffee fields, seeing their grandparents and parents live and sustains their families with coffee. Additionally, some of the coffee producers have come from different regions of Colombia such as Caquetá, Nariño, Cauca and Tolima, choosing Palestina for being a garden of Eden and spectacular place for agriculture.

    Some of these farmers are from indigenous communities of the department of Cauca who came in the 1930’s and 1940’s in search of better opportunities. With this melting pot and diversity, there is a mix of knowledge between traditional farmers and indigenous cultures, that have enabled the production of amazing coffee. All these coffee producers, have dedicated these last years to work their coffee with detail and organization, achieving great quality coffees, acquiring consistency year after year. Another important factor is their production of coffee with a profound respect for the environment and conservation of the nature surrounding their farms.
