  • Oh bliss! Rapture! We're back to Central America with this little player (see reviews below of our previous Costa Rican coffee).

As inspiring as the 2014 World Cup team that thrashed Uruguay and Italy, this Costa Rican package delivers aplenty. A rich chocolate flavour, so characteristic of Central American Arabica beans, this seasonal crop has notes of lime, green grape, sugar cane juice and mellow floral flavours. It's sweet with tangy fruit acidity and a smooth mouthfeel.

Rin recommends: a pour-over brew method to highlight the subtleties of this incredible single origin. Perfect for Aeropress / Chemex / Softbrew.

Alto San Juan Micromill is owned by an intrepid young producer named Diego Abarca, who took a plot of land from his family's farm, given to him by his father, and transformed it into a successful business as a coffee producer in his own right. His yields have grown every year, and it has allowed him to attempt more experimentation in addition to having tighter quality control: While he primarily focuses on Washed coffees in order to streamline his processing, Diego has recently begun experimenting with Honey and Natural processes as well.

Sourcing "microlots" allows for exceptions quality control, smaller crops and beautifully balanced coffee. It helps smaller farms make a decent living and provides you with the most ethically-sourced and carefully produced green coffee beans.
