We're always delighted to have a new coffee from Colombia and this new arrival is, as always, quite simply stunning.

Andino is the culmination of the work of 120 small-scale growers in Bruselas and Pitalito, in the Huila department of Colombia. These farms are situated in the Macizo Colombiano, where in the three ranges of Colombian Andes converge to give a distinctive micro-climate for coffee growing conditions. The flavour complexity is in the main due to the diversity of the terroir, where plant fruits such as avocado, dragon fruit and lyche are planted to diversify soils minerals.

This coffee is fully washed at micro-mills, giving it a clean cup profile to compliment the floral sweetness of flavour, we taste caramel, raspberry and cherry notes in this great all-rounder. Perfect for all brewing methods.

The Macizo Colombiano is the area where the three ranges of the Colombian Andes come together to form one massive range. This convergence and the influence of rivers, the Amazon and the Pacific creates a unique environment creating micro-climates. These micro-climates are essential for creating the many different flavour profiles of the coffees in this region. Andino coffee comes from producers who farm in this dynamic zone.

Bruselas and Pitalito are communities in Huila located in this area. The steep ridges of the region produce vibrant and crisp acidity and subtle complexity. Producers often plant avocados and other tropical fruits amongst their coffee trees. Caravela works closely with the small-scale coffee producers in Bruselas and Pitalito, under the name Andino, guaranteeing sustainable farming practices and consistent cup quality.
